Xtreme Waste’s recycle truck which was involved in an incident on Monday has been passed with flying colours by the serious crash unit in Hamilton.
After one of Xtreme’s curb runners was injured while trying to climb onto the truck during Monday’s recycle run the truck was given a thorough inspection by the Serious Crash Unit. The Crash Unit say they are very happy with the truck and as a result the Attending Police Officer has reported that he is also happy and that the matter will not be taken any further.
Interestingly the rumours flying around town about the incident managed to make their way into the Waikato Times which reported that a 25 year old pedestrian had been hit by a truck. The person injured was an Xtreme curb runner and additionally he is still in his teen years. The injured curb runner was released from hospital on Monday evening after scans revealed he had no concussion but he does have a broken leg which means he’ll be off the run for the next 12 weeks at least.
Gavin Melgren, Xtreme Waste’s Operation’s Manager reports that they have already had a thorough debrief with the team up at the recycle centre and will be implementing additional safety procedures as a result of accident.
