Work underway to repair Cambrae Rd dropout

The dropout site cleared ready for the retaining wall to be built

Work started yesterday, Tuesday 7th Feb, on repairing the Cambrae Road, Raglan dropout. The arrival of a bright yellow digger announced the start of work by the Waikato District Alliance. The slip was excavated and carted away, then work began on preparing the site for building a concrete mass block sloping retaining wall. Work on building the wall will begin today, Wednesday 8th Feb.

The following locations are where Waikato District Alliance (WDA) roading crews are, and what they are doing to address damage to our roads. We are prioritising these areas this week. There will be other areas with damage, there are scheduled in to the work programme for a later date.

Matahuru Road, Waiterimu – Large slip, single lane cleared over the weekend – road is open for residents only while slip clearing continues.
Brien Road and Ponganui Road, Onewhero – Slip clearing continues
Port Waikato – Tuakau Bridge Road – Several areas of Tuakau Bridge-Port Waikato Road still one lane, clear-up continues.
Cambrae Road, Raglan – Catchpit has been blocked on one side of the slip to try and prevent water from going into the road pavement. Retaining wall is being installed this week.
Whaanga Road, Raglan – Is open. Slip clearing is continuing.
Phillips Road, Raglan – Clearing major slip blocking three quarters of the road. Locals have cleared a portion of the slip. One day’s worth of slip clearing left to do.
Falls Road, Waerenga/Island Block– Clearing slip debris.
Rotowaro Road, Huntly– Clearing slip debris.
Settlement Road, Aka Aka– Clearing slip debris.
Makomako Road, south of Raglan – Slip clearing
Roads closed by weather damage

State Highway 23, 1.6km past the intersection with Glentui Lane on the Divvy
Road closed until further notice, follow detour via Ohautira Rd, Waingaro Rd through to Ngaruawahia.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is now constructing a temporary diversion road around the slip site through private property. Earthworks will be carried out over the next few days to create the new temporary road, which if at all possible will be two lanes wide. There is no date for this temporary road to be open for traffic.

Matahuru Road, Waiterimu – Closed to through traffic
Murray Road, Tuakau – Closed until further notice due to a slip.
Swan Access Road, Raglan – Closed due to dropout.
Pukekawa Churchill Road – Closed due to flooding
Alder Road, Tuakau – Closed due to flooding
Cambrae Road, Raglan -Closed due to slip from No. 15 to Bayview Road
