Work to start next week on fixing Cambrae Road dropout

The Alliance is taking a conservative approach and leaving spoil in place,
so that further slippage is reduced

Waikato District Council says that their Alliance contractors will start work fixing the dropout/ slip next week (Week commencing 6th February). At the moment they are sourcing materials. Raglan 23 has been told that the repair work will include a concrete retaining wall.

After taking away three truck loads of spoil on the 28th December, the Alliance has now adopted a conservative approach leaving the slip spoil in place to limit further slippage. While each end of Cambrae Road is open to residents, it is closed to through traffic.

A Chorus internet cable is uncovered for about one metre

Slippage has now reduced although further undermining has occurred near the edge of the tar seal. A Chorus internet cable has become uncovered for about a one metre length. Also buried under the road is the Cambrae Road water main. Any further dropout would see the water main exposed and unsupported.

Raglan’s coastal road, the Whaanga Road, is now open. Slip clearing is continuing.

SH 23, the main road to Raglan is still closed and there is no date for it to be reopened. A detour via Ngaruawahia and Waingaro is open.
