The Waikato Council started work late last week on restoring the Manu Bay scenic viewing point. Earlier this year the Council installed a sewer control box, radio mast and antennae at the lookout that detracted from the magnificent view. Following complaints from Raglanders the Council agreed to move the control box. The cost of moving the unit is being shared between the Council and its contractor.
Last week residents approached Raglan 23 and asked if the Council had forgotten about its promise to resite the box. We asked the Council when the work would be started. A Council spokesperson said, “Our contractors started work on the new site last week with concrete poured Friday. The actual cabinet may be moved later this week if not, early next week.”
So this eyesore will be moved soon and the viewing spot will be restored.
