Woman flown from Raglan to Middlemore Hospital after footbridge accident

On the afternoon of Sunday 28th, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to
Raglan where a 50 year Hamilton woman suffered a suspected spinal injury to her neck after jumping off the Papahua footbridge. She was in a critical condition when medics reached her at 4.08pm, a spokesman for St John Ambulance said. The woman was flown to Middlemore Hospital.
The bridge, from Raglan township to the Raglan Domain crosses the Opotoru Estuary of  Raglan Harbour, is a popular spot for jumping. The accident occurred after low tide at 1.38pm.
