After a pause in 2009, the Whaingaroa Youth Movement has returned to the Raglan Town Hall for their annual modern dance show. This year’s performance is called Wonderful Underland a dance interpretation of stories from Alice in Wonderland. Once again, the dancers have excelled right from the little tots through to the teenagers.

Producer Patti Mitchley deserves her reputation for providing the inspiration that gets the most from the Whaingaroa Youth Movement dancers. This year Patti was assisted by Mariella Mulholland, and Marie Hermo-Jensen, a visiting professional dancer from Norway. Mariella produced the Spirit Seeds and Magical Mushrooms segments of the show and Marie directed the rehearsals.

This year a magical tree has been created by set designer, Donald Tweedie with a magical syncopation of colour added by lighting wizard, Al Williamason and a sound track from Jeremy Mayall. And an amazing array of costumes has been designer for the dancers by Kartika Leng and Rebecca Dowling.
The show finishes on Sunday 12th with the 2pm performance.
