This week, the Waikato Times is looking at their readers’ favourite roads and today they are featuring the Whaanga Coast road from Raglan to Ruapuke.
The article covers how this 45km hugs the spectacular coastline between Raglan and Aotea harbours on the west coast of the North Island. It goes on to describe how the rugged, rocky, gravel road has become a legend to surfers and motorsport fans.
If only they knew that the glistening water contains sewage. Why did the Council issue more building and resource consents than the sewage system could cope with?
The problem is that there is no sewerage system. The subdivision of that area was under the Raglan County. As that organisation is history we will never find out why they allowed septic tanks to be built on sections where there was no hope of ever emptying them.
