WEL Networks crews continue working to restore power into the evening

Wild weather across Waikato is causing outages across the region with flying debris and vegetation a major cause. Thank you for your patience as our crews do their best to restore power as quickly, and as safely as they can.

Crews will continue working to restore power into the evening however safety – theirs and the communities – will be the number one priority. This means some areas could remain without power through the evening.

  • Power was out to most of the Raglan area- it was restored at about 5.45pm.
  • Medically dependant residents should make suitable arrangements for the next 48 hours.
  • Hamilton City – Generators will be installed in the Queenwood area to provide temporary supply overnight.
  • Ngaruawahia – we have reports of trees near power lines in Jacob Street. Please stay away from the trees.
  • If you see a downed power line, stay away. Call 0800 800 935 to report an incident.
  • Do not try to remove vegetation from lines or try to move lines.
  • Stay updated on current unplanned outages on the WEL Networks website
  • In an emergency call 111.
