With the departure of Easter visitors and the recent rain, water use in Raglan has plunged to an average of 1543 cubic metres a day and has been as low as 1409 a day. Even with this large drop and plenty of water available at Raglan’s water source, Ngaruawahia is maintaining its hard line on water use with a total ban on sprinklers. While the Waikato District Council’s Facebook says that the water alert is assessed on a daily basis, some Raglan folk are wondering that with the departure of the Water General Manager whether there is anybody in Ngaruawahia to approve changing the water alert level.

  1. Until we see a break in the weather and an improvement with Lake Taupo levels, it is likely the Waikato district will remain on Alert Level 3. Both the Waikato district and the Waipa district remain on Alert Level 3. The council’s water team and Acting Service Delivery General Manager monitor our water supply and consumption levels daily. Decisions about water alert levels are made in conjunction with our councillors.
