A sustained decrease in the amount of water being consumed in Raglan and the Waikato District has seen the area’s water alert levels drop back to alert level 1 on 3rd February.
The change to alert level 1 means that sprinkler systems are permitted between 6am-8am and 6pm-8pm daily. Previously, while on alert level 2 sprinkler systems were permitted between 6am-8am and 6pm-8pm on alternate days only.
Waikato District Council Water & Facilities General Manager Richard Bax encouraged residents to continue to proactively conserve water.
“Even though restrictions have now been reduced, I hope residents will continue to conserve water where possible to ensure a consistent supply throughout the remainder of summer,” he said.
Smart Water Use aims to encourage residents to regard water as a ‘limited and precious resource’ and promote proactive water conservation.
