Wallis Water Wastage fixed

Last week local residents reported to Raglan 23 that had been wasting water for a few weeks. This large major major water leak was seen across the footpath outside 29 Wallis St. We were told by these concerned Raglanders that they had reported it to Waikato Districit Council and been told, “it is on private property and there is nothing we can do.”

Raglan 23 put this query to Ngaruawahia about the leak, “Given that we have a water alert in place, Council’s reported response doesn’t seem appropriate. It doesn’t resonate with Council’s Smart Water marketing campaign. Would you please advise what the situation is and whether the leak can be stopped.”

On Friday 24th a spokesperson for Waikato District Council said, “It’s encouraging to hear that residents are engaging with the Smart Water messages and being vigilant about water use in Raglan. Our water maintenance team has visited the property mentioned to investigate the cause of the leak and they’ve confirmed it is a fault with the property’s pipe work. They have spoken to the property owner and discussed their responsibility around water consumption including recommended actions and repairs, however we will continue to monitor the situation to determine if there is anything else we can do to help stop the leak.”

When Raglan 23 checked over the weekend we found that the leak had been fixed and the water wastage ended. Thanks WDC for following up on this.
