Waikato District Council advises that the sea wall repairs were completed in November on the walkway along the Opotoru Estuary to the footbridge across to Papahua Reserve.
Since than arborist work has been completed to remove several low hanging branches and Watercare have completed the replacement of the old water main feeding across to Papahua Reserve. The concrete footpath has been poured and finished. After it had cured the walkway is now open with temporary balustrades in place while the fabrication is completed on the permanent handrail and fence.
The pathway will then close again for a week in mid-August to allow for installation of the handrails and fence before opening permanently at the end of August.
