Waitetuna seal extension project delayed

Bad weather has delayed work on the Waitetuna Valley Road seal extension project.  The Contract, valued at $399,996.48, was awarded to Downer EDI Works. The works are partially complete but have been suspended due to unfavourable weather conditions. Completion date has been extended to 30 November 2010.

Project summary

Waitetuna Valley Road is situated approximately halfway between the townships of Raglan and Whatawhata, extending from SH23 at the northern end and running for 10km southeast to Fillery Road The project starts at RP 4.36 and ends at RP 5.36, a project length of 1000m.

This project involves widening the road carriageway to a minimum of 6m, incorporating drainage improvements, kerb and channel, and retaining walls. The horizontal alignment will be altered to provide a safer, more efficient route and the vertical alignment will be evened out to provide a smoother ride.
