Movie celebrities are regular visitors to Raglan. Some are New Zealanders like Julian Dennison, Taika Waiti or Christian Nicolson coming here for premiere screenings at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre. Often international stars visit to soak up the ambiance. A few months ago, the stars of Light Between Oceans, Michael Fassbender and Rachel Weisz spotted at Orca enjoying a meal by Raglan Radio DJ, Captain Pugwash.
The latest star to visit was Twilight actress Ashley Greene with her partner Paul Khoury. For them the visit was extra special as on a visit to Raglan’s Wairēinga/Bridal Veil Falls, he dropped down on one knee to ask the Hollywood star to marry him. Paul made a short video of the visit and the occasion then posted it on Instagram.

Media outlets from CNN to American Vogue all posted stories to their online pages including the clip of the proposal. And Ashley Greene added several gushing posts about the area, including where the couple stayed – Waoku Lodge.
In another post, Greene says “I can’t get over how beautiful it is in Raglan. Everywhere you look, it’s nothing short of stunning. #newzealand #heaven #merryandbright.”
