Two new exhibitions open

Study paintings at the All Square exhibition

Two new exhibitions opened in Raglan on Saturday 16th.   The first one called, All Square by members of the Raglan Art Group is in the Town Hall Supper Room.  The second exhibition is at the Old School Arts Centre in Stewart Street and is by senior art students from Raglan Area School.

All Square is named after the format used for all of the paintings – a 200 mm square block of canvas.   Within th is format the exhibition features water colour painting, oil painting, multi-media, collages and photographs.   All works are $30  and you pay your money and take your painting away on the spot.  Paintings are moved up the wall to fill the empty spaces as works are sold.  When the Raglan Website visited on Saturday morning, many pieces had already been sold.  Th exhibition closes on Sunday 17th April.  The Raglan Art Group meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Te Uku Hall.   At the moment the group has 37 members ranging from 11 to 97 years.

The exhibition at the Old School Arts Centre displays work completed by senior art students aged 15 to 18, at Raglan Area School along with complementary works by friends and whanau.   Jeannette McDonnell- Rata, Head of the Art Department has organised the exhibition assisted by the students, other staff and whanau.  Many of the works are on canvas using acrylics and all are on A4 size canvasses.  Over 40 people attended the opening on Saturday morning.   The exhibition will be open on most days through Easter from 11am to 3pm and close at the end of April.
