In 2013, Raglan man Bob Macleod was named Waikato Volunteer of the Year. Last night (Friday 20th), another Raglander, Rodger Gallagher was nominated 2014 Waikato Volunteer of the Year.

The Volunteer Excellence Awards, organised by Volunteering Waikato, were held at The Atrium on the Wintec City Campus. Rodger was nominated by the Raglan Community Arts Council. Volunteering Waikato said the judges made the award as Rodger has been actively involved with the Raglan Old School Arts centre since 2003 and that as a volunteer he has led, encouraged and participated in events. He had also provided vision and expert leadership that turned the Centre into a thriving community hub.
