To reach 90% vax target, Whāingaroa needs another 685

Steady progress over the week with 84 people having their first shot means that Whāingaroa now needs another 685 people to have their first shot. The latest data (on 26 October 2021) for Raglan Whāingaroa shows that another 685 people need to have their first COVID-19 shot to reach the 90% Government target. Stronger progress with second shots means that 2004 locals (down from 2224) who have had their first shot need to go on and have their second shot.

For people having had their first shot over the last week, for Raglan Town the momentum of early October dropped away and the increase of first jabs was less than one percent ending up at 79%.

The numbers for people having their second jab was better with a two percent increase. To date the percent fully vaccinated is: Raglan 60%, Around Raglan 58% and Te Akau 66%.

These are well below Hamilton on 73%, Waipa on 72%, but on par with the rest of the Waikato District on 66%.

The Waikato DHB’s chief executive Dr Kevin Snee says the majority of the Waikato can’t be compared to Auckland.

“It is highly rural, with many people living in remote areas,” he says. “To achieve the final push over 90 percent in the Waikato we will need a targeted approach and it will be important to work with our key partners, particularly iwi, Kaupapa Māori and Pacific providers”. Twenty mobile clinics are also planned in more remote communities.

You can get vaccinated at Raglan Medical, Monday to Friday by making an appointment on (07) 825 0114.

The next mobile clinics in Whāingaroa are:

Thursday 28 October 10am – 3pm Covid vaccination is available in Te Uku Hall
