Raglan man, Barry Ashby, was featured in last Saturday’s edition of the Waikato Times. 75-year-old Barry is a regular letter writer to the Waikato Times with his letters often printed in the Letters to the Editor section. Barry says that the journalist who interviewed him for the article, uncovered many things about him that he usually keeps to himself.
Much of the article is about animal rights and what Barry does about this through his letter writing. His dog, Sir Barney Grub gets more than a mention with Barry giving his views on Waikato District Council’s dog laws, describing them as “stupid”. Barry wants to know, “why he and Sir Barney grub have to sit in the car while big savage dogs roam the streets.” He adds, “Don’t have a stupid law that you can’t enforce.”
Barry says that he writes one letter a day to various newspapers or politicians.
Well done Barry. Keep those letters flowing!
