A Whāingaroa Harbour Strategy workshop was held on Friday 1st October. People attended virtually and in person, to give their ideas for the future of the harbour.
Despite the challenges presented by the Covid Level 3 Rules, I’d like to reassure you we are still progressing with this project and are committed to making sure this strategy is a reflection of the community’s aspirations for the future of the harbour.
Workshop summary We had around 20 people attend the workshop, online and in person at the Raglan Town Hall.
Some of the things we covered were:
- What the Whāingaroa Harbour Strategy is all about
- What we already know from documents such as the Raglan Naturally Community Plan and the Council’s Long-Term Plan
- Other projects underway to improve the existing wharf and what we hope to achieve with the Whāingaroa Harbour Strategy
We also discussed why the harbour is important to you and what it could look like in 30 – 50 years’ time. We’ve put together a 5-minute survey to gather more insight into your views on the harbour and would greatly appreciate it if you could take some time over the next two weeks to complete it. The survey will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 17 October. https://forms.office.com/r/aVt6QdkHq7 Please feel free to share this link with your networks.
Next stepsOnce we have received all online feedback, we will start to engage with other stakeholders and the wider community to get their thoughts on the future of the harbour. If there is anyone you think we should be in touch with, please send their names and contact details through and we will do so.
We’ll also send out regular e-newsletter updates to keep you in the loop as we progress with this project. You can sign up for these here http://eepurl.com/gupX8z If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
