Lorenzen Bay resident, Stan Francis is a happy man. A few months ago he advised the Waikato District Council that part of the seawall for the Lorenzen Bay esplanade reserve had collapsed when it had been washed away by a king tide. Stan has been monitoring the situation since then keeping the Council up to date as the erosion got worse and ensuring that picnickers didn’t park on the eroded bank.
On Tuesday 17th a contractor hired by the Waikato District Council made temporary repairs to the wall, shoring it up with boulders. Stan said he was pleased that the work had been completed ahead of the period of red alert high tides that begin on this coming Saturday. He looked forward to permanent repairs being made to the wall.
