As predicted on 31st July, Covid cases for Raglan, Hamilton and central Waikato are steady. After running at around 311 a day in mid July, new daily cases have now moved to about 275 a day, tracking in a 243 to 305 band. Our model is predicting that new cases will decline slightly over the next week. There is likely to be 5 new cases of Covid in Raglan each day with about 36 active community cases, self isolating.
For our graph we have combined new daily cases numbers in Hamilton City, Raglan and other Waikato District areas (e.g. Tamahere, Whatawhata, Ngaruawahia, Huntly and Gordonton). Starting from a high level of over 1200 daily cases in early March, the numbers plateaued at about 1000 then began to slowly drop down to just over half the peak to 785 on 25th March. After tracking at about 200 a day in early May, they then went up to 350 a day, and then dropped to around 195 a day. They moved up in July to around 382 new Covid cases each day and are now down to about 275 a day.
On Friday 5th August, 476 new cases were reported in Te Whatu Ora Waikato region.
The total number of cases in this Waikato outbreak as shown below is now 131,483 (3442 active and 128,041 recovered).
There were 751 vaccinations given in Waikato On Thursday 4th August.
There are 69 COVID-19 positive individuals receiving care at Te Whatu Ora Waikato hospitals – this is a mix of patients who are receiving care for COVID-19 and those receiving care for an unrelated condition who have also tested positive. There are currently no patients in ICU and HDU.
