On the 7th September, Raglan Ramblers will be walking around Lake Ngaroto peat lake, near Te Awamutu. This will be on the 6km track, and then a much shorter walk to visit the nearby 14.5 ha Yarndleys Bush, gazetted as Scenic Reserve in 1992, on account of it being a remnant of once plentiful kahikatea bush. Trees average a height of 35 metres, with ferns, grass, mahoe, mangahonge, pukatea, wheki, ponga and mapou also growing there. Please bring your lunch.

Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
