Wednesday’s agenda includes –
- 5G telecom tower, beside water tower bus shelter, resource consent to be applied for. Safety fact sheet says no health risk [p29 of 2020 Report]. Maps show fewer areas will have no phone signal (blue on maps).
- Wharf Structural Repairs, Pontoons and Walkways “maintenance work under the wharf, expected to take around three months, and the construction of the pontoon six months to complete, finishing in April 2023. . . Eastern walkway and pontoon will proceed after the structural works, however some preliminary works has started such as harvesting of basalt boulders. . . Site laydown area has been identified on John St . . . The resource consent application has been submitted to WRC ad WDC for the eastern walkway and pontoon and this is being worked through at present with some additional information required by WRC. . . Western walkway . . . part of the Better off funding”.
- Whāingaroa Harbour Strategy updated version. Still includes “Rebuild historical jetty off Cliff Street”. Feedback included, “Horse riding access to beaches”.
- Cliff Street & Joyce Petchell toilets “wrapped with anti- graffiti material. Staff would like to thank the board for their patience and assistance in selecting the appropriate design.” [last on RCB’s agenda in Dec 2020, but delay, consultation and Sep 2019 plan for painting by local artists not mentioned]
- Soundsplash 18-25 Jan – “event capacity study is currently in draft form and being reviewed. . . Rugby Club is not an appropriate option for parking and will not be considered . . . Consents and associated conditions are only available on request via direct email . . . Waiting on management plans for review.”
- Soccer field flooding “Rainwater has and will aways be an issue in this area”.
- Wi Neera Walkway “Tonkin Taylor is providing an offer of service for detailed design”.
- Waikowhai Walkway [Lorenzen Bay] “consult with the community when the project progresses.”
- Coastal reserves “stakeholder meeting. . . 13 September.” [7pm Surf Club]
- Manu Bay Breakwater – “consultants will be engaged, with delivery of the report for peer review expected by the end of September”.
- Local bus “Trial Bus Service planning”. See survey on page 14 of Local Rag, or Facebook [the questions are aimed at doctor’s visits, etc, rather than parking, climate change, etc, but answers could mention 7,609 vehicles a day on Main Rd and 6,820 on Wainui Rd, (~ a full double decker every 10 mins) and 140g CO2/km by car, compared to 35g by bus, or 5g electric bus]
- Civil Defence “plan could be ready to present to the Community Board in November/December”.
- Community Board Charter RCB suggested “option for the Chair to be appointed to a manager position with higher/extra pay”
- Raglan Naturally verbal report.
- Animal Control late responses “due to the geographic spread of our district . . . some of the jobs were not updated with the correct times”.
- Reflective Tape on Gates “added to both sides of the secure gates at Papahua Reserve”.
- Rangitahi swimming pool project “Kept in loop”
- Discretionary fund has $26,759.67. Community House want $2,493 to replace fence [no explanation of need for fence] and Community Radio want $723 towards Whāingaroa Talent Factory event.
