Sep 6: Raglan Community Board meeting

The next Board meeting is Wed 6 September at 1.30pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum will be near the start of the formal meeting, giving an opportunity to discuss issues. You might prefer to email/phone the Board.

The agenda omits some information, but includes –

  1. Blue Float Energy – Off-shore Wind Farm verbal report. Last year the plan for 54 turbines (810MW) over 20km offshore was announced. Recent news is an electric arc steel furnace at Glenbrook and a presentation.  
  2. Soundsplashmeeting with the event organisers is planned for 28/08 . . . management plans . . . on 1 September for review . . . with final sign-off set for 1 November. . . plans requested for 2024 event are Transport . . ., Wellbeing . . . and Staff & Volunteer Management Plan. . . agreements from Surf Club, St John . . . and landowner approval from relevant Iwi/Hapu groups for use of the Raglan Airfield . . . review of the consent . . . attendee restrictions or other clauses may happen ahead of 2025 event.
  3. Civil Defencewill set up a meeting with interested parties within the community in late September.
  4. Bus surveyWaikato Regional Council is working on the procurement process for the bus trial service.
  5. Wi Neera Walkwayreport . . . for constructing a full width footpath with handrail . . . due . .  by the end of Aug”.
  6. WharfRegional Council Consent has been received, District Council consent is imminent . . . first task . . to bring in ~1,000 tonnes of rock which will form the new sea wall. . . complete the major parts . . before Christmas . . . Tree-pits . . . signboards, entrance sculpture and pedestrian raised table . . . may not happen until mid-Feb”.
  7. Manu Bay Breakwater – “seeking clarification as the options provided require further analysis.
  8. FluorideCouncil has not received a letter of direction to fluoridate Raglan’s water supply. Council is not a party to the court proceedings raised in the public forum.
  9. Rugby clubcompleted the interior paint works and will start on the exterior in the spring”.
  10. Camp groundstormwater upgrade as well as an upgrade of the kitchen and laundry . . . awaiting quotes”.
  11. Freedom Camping bylaw hearings on 12 September.
