On the 27th September, Raglan Ramblers will have the option of long and short walks at Peart’s Finger an Hawea Point. So the walks will either be about eleven or six kilometres round these rocky peninsulas in the harbour. The platform in the photo has been cut by waves into the calcareous siltstone of the Aotea Formation, formed around 40 million years ago. Please bring your lunch.

Update:
Meet James street 9:00 am as usual
Drive to Pearts Finger
Gate 284 Okete Rd
Fonterra dairy number73150
Follow drive as far as cow shed.
Park on the left side fork of driveway keeping right side clear for farm vehicles.
We will walk to finger and have morning tea there. It will be low tide -it is possible to walk around headland. Some may choose to walk back to area where we can join up.
The walk then comes back and those wanting a slightly shorter walk may choose to walk back up the farm race, while others can choose to go cross country to the western part of the farm.
Regardless of choice, we need to be clear of the farm races by 1:30 ( cows will start to make their way to milking shed after this time)
It looks like it will be a wet lead in to this walk!
Bring morning tea and lunch

There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook-https://www.facebook.com/RaglanRamblers/. Most walks start at 9am from the James St/ Wallis St corner near Catholic church.
