Sep 19: Movie – MILITARY WIVES
Inspired by the Incredible True Story of The Military Wives Choirs
NZ Herald 3 Stars “This British dramedy has a Calendar Girls or The Full Monty feel-good vibe – which isn’t surprising given director Peter Cattaneo also helmed the latter.”

In MILITARY WIVES, the Full Monty director Peter Cattaneo recruits A-listers Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan to lead this inspiring drama about the bravery of the women of war, and the power of the music that saved them. The life of a military wife can be thankless. Separated from loved ones, their suffering and sacrifice go unnoticed while they live with the dread of a fateful knock on the door.
But Kate (Kristin Scott Thomas), finds freedom in song and persuades a ragtag group of women on the base to form the Military Wives Choir. Finding their voice together, the misfit choir put two fingers up to stuffy military tradition and their own personal differences. As friendships flourish, even the sceptical rebel and rocker Lisa (Sharon Horgan), is transformed by the choir’s friendship, humour and courage. Inspired by a true-life global phenomenon, Military Wives portrays ordinary women in unbelievably testing circumstances, who find courage in the cathartic power of singing together. The luminous cast belts out pop hits and rock anthems, empowering everyone to overcome their fears together.

Sep 19, Oct 4: Movie – WHERE’D YOU GO BERNADETTE
Disappearances can be deceiving
Graeme Tuckett Stuff 3.5/5 Stars “Blanchett is beyond praise here, but she has some terrific co-workers. Billy Crudup is fine as husband Elgin, while new-comer Emma Nelson is quietly brilliant as daughter – and film narrator – Bee. Only Kristen Wiig, as Bernadette’s nettlesome neighbour, is out of place, knocking us out of the film’s drama and into standard comedy territory.”

Sep 20: Movie- GOD OF THE PIANO
Best film 2019 International Festival of Independent Cinema.
Graeme Tuckett, Stuff 4.5/5 Stars: “For Naama Preis’ performance as Anat, for a startlingly good soundtrack of classical and original compositions, for the formal beauty of cinematographer Meidan Arama’s framing and for the cool intelligence of the script, God of the Piano is a keeper.”
