Sep 11: Raglan Community Board meeting

The next Board meeting is Tuesday 11 September at 2pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 1.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues.

The agenda includes –

  1. Footpaths – list ranking for new paths gives preference to areas with footpaths, but low ranking for traffic flows and nothing for speed of traffic. These are the Raglan priorities for 3 years –

  2. Wi Neera St drain  still waiting for NZTA footpath funding.
  3. Stormwater – Connell Contractors working at Wainui Rd and Stewart St corner. Road detours being monitored over concerns about width and amount of development traffic on Gilmour St. At stormwater meeting it was said Gilmour St is to be widened and stormwater channelled.
  4. Airfield – Balance Super Air have made changes to fuelling to avoid fumes drifting into the Holiday Park.
  5. Cemetery – awaiting plans for the extension, which includes the RSA area.
  6. Hills Rd water tower – aim to repair by summer after landslip.
  7. Sewage spills – 131 across the district this year, but no Raglan figures15 July rain required many tanker callouts, but no overflows. Rising main replacements renewals  preferred tenderer identified tbuild over 27 weeks to 31 March.
  8. Sewage treatment tertiary membrane filter will remove solids to improve consent compliance. Upgrading telemetry equipment.
  9. Stewart St – angled parking for both a consented 11 unit development (6) and for additional parking needed due to the archaeological and community concerns with widening Joyce Petchell Park carpark (9). Construction planned for Sep/Oct.
  10. Joyce Petchell Park – Heritage NZ has allowed construction under Accidential Discoveries Protocol. Engagement with Iwi is complete. New toilet manufactured.
  11. Cliff St – Preferred tenderer for toilet block selected and timing to be confirmed. Replacement of 6 by 4 pre-fabricated toilets is expected to take 10 weeks. Demolition of breeze block toilets after Joyce Petchell toilets complete.
  12. Ngarunui Beach – concept plan for 4 toilets, outside showers and parking space for surfboard hire.
  13. Riria Kereopa Memorial Dr – discussions with Iwi about security and coastal erosion. Contingency planning if toilets can’t be built will require a scope change request to go to MBIE.
  14. Papahua carpark – Fulton Hogan plan final surfacing early September.
  15. Raglan Naturally Community-wide consultation plan finalised by 10 Aug. Town Hall booked 14,15,16 Sep. Appeal to local funders.
  16. Rangitahi bridge beams permit is issued for . . . a period of 2 years. Therefore it is not possible to identify loads that may be travelling through the Raglan Community Board area.” Up to 81 tonnes allowed over Wainui Bridge at 10kph.
  17. Street cleaning – to be checked next month.

  18. Raglan Coastal Reserves 13 August minutes not included.

  19. Wharf safety rails – “Quote requested from local builder for the wooden railing option, and to meet on site to review and discuss scope of work. . . Dolphin – Reviewing condition assessment and engineers structural assessment to confirm expected life and recommended works. Staff to seek cost estimates for required works and come back to the Community Board to confirm next steps based on this information.”
  20. Wharf boardwalk/seawall replacement – preliminary design accepted.
  21. Parking A local initiative is currently being explored for a shuttle service to operate between the wharf, the CBD and rugbyclub, to help with parking challenges.”

  23. Discretionary fund has $9,719. Deadline for next fund applications Fri 5/10.
