For the second time today, Raglan rescue services have been called out along with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The rescue services were called out at 5.39pm to a vehicle crash on Wainui Rd at the Opotoru one way bridge.

It appears that a ute missed the one way bridge and hit the rocks. There was a man in the bed of the ute, when the driver lost control and the vehicle slid down a five-metre bank. The Rescue Helicopter parked in the middle of road and was off again back to Waikato Hospital by 6.30pm.

Westpac Rescue Helicopter pilot Loren Haisley said, “A man was thrown from the vehicle, onto rocks, sustaining a head injury and a fractured right arm”.
