Search for surfer ended

Police, Coastguard and surf lifesavers were busy on the afternoon of Tuesday 24th with a search for a missing surfer at Raglan. The Waikato Rescue Helicopter was dispatched while Trust Waikato Raglan Surf Life Saving Club with IRBs, Waikato police, Raglan Volunteer Coastguard and Search and Rescue volunteers also took part in the search.

Just before mid-day a surfer was reported to be in difficulties at Ngarunui Beach, Raglan.  Other swimmers went to assist and surf club and Coastguard boats also responded.

The search continued during the afternoon until about 3pm when it was called off. A man presented himself and confirmed that he was indeed the person that was reported in the specific area of the sighting.
