Tena koutou te whanau me te haapori o Whaingaroa. (Greetings family and the community of Whaingaroa).

Sarah has arranged with Fiona Edwards from the Raglan Community Charitable Trust, so that online donations can be amded by direct credit from your bank account. If you or your business wish to have your donation tax deductible, this will allow an easier process.
Should you require a receipt, please also let her know.

It is with much pleasure that I thank the Whaingaroa Community once again in offering to support me with this years New Year fireworks display following the disappointing news of it’s cancellation once again due to lack of sponsorship and instead we celebrate Matariki in July 2020.
Like many, I took this disappointing news like everyone else in the community, not very well as it is something my whanau and mokopuna far and wide come home to enjoy every year and hope to continue for many more.
No disrespect to the suggestion of our Matariki celebration that too is another important date on our calendar.
Today I am volunteering myself to help raise these funds.
I am very aware of last year’s awesome efforts of Mike Edmonds who did it in a day! I think he was the perfect person for the job and I know how appreciative the community were including my whanau far and wide.
I will be contacting our local businesses to help support this initiative once again and in conjunction, (to be inclusive of our entire community and acknowledge the comments on the fb post) I will initiate a ‘Give a little’ page so please watch that space!
Should funds exceed the targeted $8000.00, thoughts to apply that to the Matariki celebrations in July 2020 cross my mind or, it could go towards next year’s display therefore doing away with the stress and disappointment of such late announcements.
Perhaps thats something that will be decided later.
It is intended to begin fundraising early in the New Year for next year’s fireworks display so that local businesses and we the community are not faced with this dilemma again.

Please share.

Naku te rourou, nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi.
(With your basket and my basket theqm people will live.)

Nga mihi mahana kia koutou mo tenei kirihimete.

FIREWORKS UPDATE FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE.

Kia ora koutou te whanau me te haapori o Whaingaroa.
Apologies for the delay in getting this update out to you all.
I have been busy researching the ‘Give a little’ page. It seems that we will not be able to access the funds we raise in time for payment to the pyrotech man, they also charge us 5% of the total amount raised for an admin fee.

Transparency and accountability to you all is a priority for me so my networks have allowed us to work in conjunction with Fiona Edwards from the Raglan Community Charitable Trust, in that, we are able to utilise their bank account. If you or your business wish to have your donation tax deductible, this will allow an easier process.
Should you require a receipt, please also let me know.
