Roofdog’s sound is guitar driven ska, backed by a relentlessly danceable beat, sure to prick your ears up and get your feet moving. And they will be in Raglan at the YOT CLUB on Friday 19th November (Roofdog, Dead Fools Fiesta and Roy Jamieson) starting at 9pm, R18.
Regulars on the New Zealand Punk and Reggae scenes for the last decade, they are equally at home playing the NZ punk fest as they are with the likes of Roots bands such as Unity Pacific and Tenement Yard.
Roofdog have enjoyed a 5 year long collaboration with Exponents frontman Jordan Luck, performing a Clash covers set at the annual Strummer Day event. In 2008 Roofdog joined UK legends Stiff Little Fingers on the New Zealand leg of their Australasian tour for sold out shows at the PowerStation in Auckland and the Civic in Christchurch. 2009 saw them on tour to promote the release of their single Metalliska, covering all corners of the country.
2010 brings about the long awaited Roofdog studio Album, set for release this July. From the politically conscious lyrics of ‘Drop the Bomb’ to the dance floor favourite ‘Dance to the Moon’ this debut full length delivers 12 tracks of infectious ska laden rock ‘n’ roll music, topped with powerful vocals, soaring guitars and thought provoking lyrics.
“A power packed energetic and exciting performance of reggae rock ska influenced Music guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and a freeing up of your dance instincts – irresistibly so.”
Tigi Ness – Recipient of the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award from The Pacific Music Awards, father of Che Fu and leader of Unity Pacific Reggae Band.
