Resource consent approval sees restart of work on $400K Greenslade Road cycleway

Now that a consent has been issued,
work has restarted on the $400K cycleway

As Raglan 23 had been told that work on the Greenslade Road to Lorenzen Bay cycleway had stopped due to it being unconsented, we asked Waikato District Council about this.

Our questions and responses from a WDC spokesperson follow:

Raglan 23: Why has work on the cycleway stopped?

WDC: Concrete work was completed up to the point that the timber boardwalk and bridge starts, this was completed while funding was available in the last financial year. The next section, which started yesterday is a boardwalk that required resource consent to allow us to build across the stream. Resource consent was issued last week.

Raglan 23: When will work start again?

WDC: Work started back yesterday Monday 15/11/2021

Raglan 23: How much is the cycleway costing?

WDC: The budget for the project is $400K

Raglan 23: When will the cycleway be completed and open for use?

WDC: It is expected to be completed in a month’s time, weather permitting.
