Rescue after near drowning at Whale Bay

Raglan St John Paramedics and Surf Lifeguards treated three people from a group of four that were involved in a near drowning incident that took place at Whale Bay a short time before 5pm on Thursday 29th. Whale Bay is one of the main Raglan surfing breaks and is some distance from the patrolled area. Raglan Surf Life Saving Club sent an IRB with two lifeguards

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to meet an ambulance at Raglan’s Manu Bay at about 5pm.

Two Hamilton men, a 16 year old and a 47 year old, were flown, and the other patient driven, to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. One other patient did not require further care.
