The Route 23 beach bus serving Raglan on Sundays and Public Holidays is to continue for a few more Sundays. Waikato Regional Council had planned to axe the service in mid-February after final runs by Busit on February Sunday 3rd and Waitangi Day, February 6th. But a meeting held on Thursday night to discuss the Route 23 bus services learned that the Waikato Regional Council will keep the Sunday beach bus going for a few more weeks. The following timetable will apply:
Transport Centre | Raglan | Manu Bay |
---|---|---|
Depart | Arrive | Arrive |
10 am | 11 am | 11.10 am |
Manu Bay | Raglan | Transport Centre |
---|---|---|
Depart | Arrive | Arrive |
4.20 pm | 4.30 pm | 5.30 pm |
Fares: Normal Raglan fares apply. Standard BUSIT fares and SuperGold cards will be available on this service.
The continuation of this service for a few more weeks will give the Waikato District Council and the Raglan Chamber of Commerce time to finalise plans for a community run Sunday and Public Holiday services.
The Chamber hopes to be able to operate a service on Sundays and Public Holidays with a small grant for Waikato District Council subsidising and shortfall from fare revenues. The bus would run Raglan – Hamilton – Raglan in the morning and in the afternoons.
