Raglanite John Lawson says that last weekend he twice caught the bus on Wallis St and was struck by how puzzled some passengers were to be told that this was the stop for the centre of Raglan.
Passengers on the Raglan bus are often unfamiliar with the area, so, more than other buses, drivers get asked for directions, advice, etc.
John has suggested to the Waikato Regional Council, the bus agency, that they should have a leaflet along these lines for drivers to hand out, or to be available in racks, or at least on websites. Another alternative would be for the timetable to have it on the other side.
And to help Waikato Regional Council with this suggestion, John has written the leaflet for them. You can download Johns Raglan Bus Guide by clicking here
The guide starts by explaining about the backstreet location of Raglan’s main bus stop:
Coming from Hamilton the main stop for the centre of Raglan is near the end of Wallis St. Many passengers don’t recognize it as a place looking as they expect Raglan to look. But don’t despair, the main shopping street and harbour front are just a minute’s walk away, if you keep going forward.
Just don’t expect to find your return bus here. Buses from Raglan to Hamilton stop in the main street, outside the library and council office. ………. You can download Johns Raglan Bus Guide by clicking here
