Raglanders take advantage of rare opportunity to view the Real Art Roadshow

Normally the Real Art Roadshow only visits schools up and down New Zealand. It allows pupils to see the work of New Zealand’s top artists up close. Roadshow only opened to the public infrequently. Last week on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th, the Real Art Roadshow was at Raglan Area School. On Saturday a special impromptu treat arranged by RAS Head of Art Jeanette McDonnell Rata saw Raglanders get a rare opportunity to view the travelling collection on Saturday.

A steady stream of locals took the opportunity to view work by Warwick Freeman, Paul Hartigan, Toss Wollaston, Greer Twiss and over sixty other artists on Saturday.

One of the most interesting art works was the Ickythump by Darren Glass.   Using a rotary pinhole camera he takes photos by rolling the Ickythump down volcanoes.

The Real Art Roadshow is off next to Silverdale School in Hamilton before it heads into the King Country.
