Raglan wins supreme overall Award in Beautiful Awards 2018

In Auckland last night (26.10.18) at a Gala Dinner it was announced that Raglan had won the Small Town Beautiful Award, the community initiative award for Plastic Bag Free and the supreme overall Award.

Raglan Ward councillor Lisa Thomson said, “This meant the town would get a mural done by Hayley King aka “Flox” and it looks like next year’s awards could be hosted in Raglan. I think anyone who spends any time in Raglan understands how beautiful the town is, but it’s the people that make it a truly beautiful place. Our community is proudly protective of the whenua [land] and Raglan’s community initiatives, and its sustainability- focused individuals and businesses, show it’s a real town effort to keep Raglan beautiful.”

Raglan was one of two small town finalists in this year’s Awards, alongside Waihi. We were nominated by Karen Cousins from Open Waikato. Judging was carried out by Sally Duggan, editor of NZ House & Garden, and Heather Saunderson from Keep NZ Beautiful in September.
