Raglan Whāingaroa stamps out Delta – Galleries and shops to open

Raglan Whāingaroa has stamped out the Delta Covid outbreak. Information provided by Waikato DHB shows that after peaking at 22 cases, as of November 1st, there were no active cases in Whāingaroa.

Let’s keep it that way.

The walk-in/ drive-in vaccination service is running in Raglan this week:

From Wednesday 3rd November, Raglan Whāingaroa Galleries and shops will be open.

Galleries and retail shops will be open in Bow Street from Wed. 3rd Nov. Still only takeways from cafes

Whāingaroa and other parts of the Waikato are moving from Covid Alert Level 3 – Step 1 to Level 3 – Step 2. This means that galleries and shops will be able to open from 11.59pm, Tuesday 2nd Nov.

At Step 2:

  • retail can open, with customers keeping 2 metres apart, and staff and customers required to wear face coverings 
  • public facilities like libraries, museums and zoos can reopen, with face coverings required and people keeping 2 metres apart
  • outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people can go ahead, with the removal of the 2-household restriction. Physical distancing is strongly encouraged to help prevent the virus spreading between households.
  • outdoor organised exercise classes, like yoga and bootcamps, can expand to 25 people, including instructors, with 2-metre physical distancing required.

All other restrictions remain as in Step 1. Still only takeways from cafes. No events allowed.

The following activities are permitted:

  • golf
  • hunting
  • sailing and boating — we recommend that boating activities be limited to people from the same household
  • fishing from a private motorised boat or vessel
  • scuba diving
  • jetskiing
  • recreational flying

Over the divvy, four new cases were confirmed in Waikato overnight Sunday/Monday , including one in Ngāruawāhia, two in Ōtorohanga and one in Hamilton. Three were known contacts already in isolation and the fourth has also now been linked to existing cases.

The total number of cases in Waikato in this outbreak is now 123, including 46 who have recovered.

Following an unexpected positive COVID-19 detection in wastewater in Huntly reported yesterday, Waikato DHB and its partners have established pop-up testing centres at Huntly East and Huntly West from 10am today.

A third new testing site has been set up today at Ngāruawāhia. This takes the number of pop-up testing sites operating in Waikato today to six. Locations can be found on the Waikato DHB website.

Data for Raglan will be updated today, 2nd November and available on 3rd November.
