A report in the Waikato Times says that coffee roaster, Raglan Roast, will be moving its roasting and distribution business from Raglan to Hamilton.
Company Director Tony Bruce is quoted as saying, “Initially, shipping coffee beans into Raglan wasn’t a problem. We weren’t dealing with huge numbers of pallets – it was all very low key. But now we are feeding nine stores – with more to come – and it’s all got very complicated. It’s a pretty big play for us in terms of real estate but we believe in the site and the area. All our future growth is covered by that one site.”
This is misleading as nothing will change with regards to Raglan and Te Uku stores which will continue to roast their own beans and STAY open at their current locations. The bulk roasting for other stores will now be done in Hamilton and not Raglan to reduce costs and provide better space and transport links. That headline looks like the operation in total is moving and leaving Raglan. Poor journalism.
