WaiDCLogoFrom today, Tuesday 2nd April, submissions can be made on the Waikato District Council’s Annual Plan. And for the first time, Raglan and other Waikato District residents will be able to make a submission to the council over the Internet.

Submissions for year two of the Long Term Plan 2012-22 (also known as the draft Annual Plan 2013-14) open today, the 2 April, and from today the council will launch its online submissions platform. the last day for submissions is Monday 6th May.

Available through http://www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/Have-your-say.aspx the online submissions system will initially be available only for the draft Annual Plan, but over the coming months it will be expanded to include other council consultation processes such as notified consents and district plan changes.

“This is an important step in our programme to bring more of the council’s services online,” General Manager of Strategy and Support Tony Whittaker said.

“Filing submissions through the website will make the process faster and simpler for both the council and the public. We also hope that by going online it will encourage members of our community who don’t usually make submissions to take a more active interest in the future of the District,” Mr Whittaker added.

Making a submission online is easy. Once users have registered, they will have access to any issues that are open for public consultation. Once a submission has been started, it can be saved to be completed at a later date. A set of frequently asked questions and online help will also be available if required.

Waikato District residents will continue to have the option of making a written submission and posting it to the council or handing it in at the Raglan office of the Council.
