Waikato District’s Draft Annual Plan is open now for submissions from Raglan resident and ratepayers. Gavin Ion, CEO of Wakato District will be in Raglan on the 18th April to brief people on the plan and to answer questions. The meeting is in the Raglan Town Hall Supper Room and starts at 7pm.
The public meeting arranged for Raglan on Year 2 of the LTP (2013/2014 draft Annual Plan) will take the format of a PowerPoint presentation by Gavin and then there will be an opportunity for questions. The content of the presentation will include a run through of what projects are earmarked for the Raglan Ward for the coming financial year, an update on the Raglan Community Board LTP Priority Projects, the key consultation items and the key dates for the special consultative procedure.
Some Raglan residents are calling for a community workshop on the annual plan after the Council run meeting. John Lawson said, “A community workshop would be a good idea, preferably led by the Community Board. Maybe after the 18 April meeting, but well before the 6 May deadline, maybe Fri 19 or Mon 22? I suggest it should also be used to try to drum up interest in the local elections; it seems they’re putting up targeted rates yet again and keeping our water restrictions tighter than Hamilton’s, despite having an ample spring supply and charging more. Last time WDC had the lowest voting in the country and the number of ‘public excluded’ meetings and lack of publicity suggest they’re happy with the system that’s kept them in power so far.”
WDC will also be encouraging people to submit online. They have asked for involvement from Raglan Community Board members in relation to the Raglan airfield landing fee proposed increase.
Both the summary and the full document are available on the Waikato District Council’s website www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz. The submission forms are also on line (http://www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/Have-your-say.aspx.) as a way of making it easier for people to make their submissions.
