Raglan Lions have been awarded the inaugural Environmental Award for District 202L. Making the award Andrew Malloch, Lions District Governor – 202L, said, “Your club’s efforts in planting trees and meeting the World President’s objectives of improving our environment, resulting in improvement to the streams and the Raglan Harbour makes your club efforts special for the people of Raglan and its many visitors. Your Lions Club truly accepted the Challenge.”
And if you thought winning this award was enough for Raglan Lions, you’d be wrong as they also went on to receive special congratulations for being awarded the District 202L Premier Trophy, for 2011-2012. You Lions club met the criterion for this award. The Lions Governor added, “The Raglan Lions club excelled by its commitment to the Op shop providing funds to support many initiatives. These included transport for youth sports, support for surfing and lifesaving education, the New Year Parade, the local service organisations and the community, as well as our District Project. And having a net increase in memberships at the end of the year was against the national trend. “
President Bob Macleod of the Lions Club of Raglan said, “I’d like to acknowledge and thank Fred Lichtwark and the Habourcare team for the efforts and cooperation with the Raglan Lions Club on this project and over the past years. This Award is recognition from Lions that Harbourcare and the Whaingaroa Environment Centre are making a difference.”
Great work Lions Club of Raglan – we look forward to more successes in 2013.
