Raglan Library hit by storm

Entrance to Raglan Library

Last night’s heavy rain and strong winds has closed Raglan Library in Bow Street. Water poured into the building soaking the library’s shelves and destroying many books.  Today librarians were busy cleaning up the damage and the mess.  Only the left hand side of the building is affected.  Waikato District Council staff were unable to say when the library will be able to reopen.  (Update 23/09:  Council now saying that the libray will reopen at then end of this week.) The Council Service Centre in the right hand side of the building is open for business as usual.
