On Friday Angela Massey helped turn the streets of Raglan yellow for Daffodil Day. The annual day is the main fundraiser for the Cancer Society and also raises awareness of cancer. And on Saturday, Raglan’s fundraising queen was still hard at it on the footbridge, promising to jump into the chilly waters below if a few more people donated their last cents to the cause.
After soliciting a few last donations, Angela consulted her technical advisor. He checked wind speed, water temperature and tide level, and then decreed that she should jump from the northern side of the bridge.
Then it was over the side for Angela with the enthusiastic spectators beginning a countdown. Before they knew it, Angela was plunging down to the water. She quickly surfaced and was in good spirits and said she had enjoyed it.
