A truly amazing effort. Congratulations.
On March 19th 2017, over 400 first responders representing the 23 NYPD, 37 PAPD and 343 FDNY ascended the 72 floors of 4 World Trade Center in the 3rd Annual New York City Memorial Stair Climb. While each first responder will climb in honor of one of the over 400 FDNY, NYPD and PAPD killed on September 11th 2001, the climb also will memorialize fallen first responders and military personnel worldwide.
The New York City Memorial Stair Climb is foremost a memorial climb, however each year we do designate a beneficiary and mount a fundraising campaign for that organization. The climb also taps into firefighters’ competitive spirit. Climbers have the option to enter as a racer and be timed against other climbers as an individual or part of a team.
Chris and John, two New York City forefighters said, “After participating in several memorial climbs we realized how meaningful they are to firefighters worldwide and the significance they hold. Several of the participants travel the globe attending these memorials and raising money for various charities. With months of planning and help from many invaluable resources the First Annual New York City Firefighter Memorial Stair Climb was held on March 16th 2015 at 4WTC. It was an incredible success! We look forward to sustaining and growing this memorial on an annual basis”
What an amazing effort!
Congratulations Leanne, Dan and Raglan Fire Brigade!
