Raglan Fire Fighters save homes from grass fire again

For the second time this week, Raglan Volunteer Fire Fighters have saved homes from grass fires. The most recent fire was near Camezind Surfboards at 4189 State Highway 23, a few kilometres east of Raglan. The brigade was called out at 5.07pm on the 25th and took action to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes. Raglan Water (Peter Storey) arrived with their water tanker to allow the brigade to damp down the hot spots.

Raglan Water also assisted at the large grass fire on Monday 24th Feb, at 2.50pm, at Waimaori Rd, Te Mata. The Raglan brigade was assisted by Kawhia Fire & Rescue Service, Te Awamutu Volunteer Fire Brigade, Pirongia Rural Fire Force and Te Akau Rural Fire Force.

A quick impromptu crèche was set up to look after the 7 children of Raglan firefighters while they worked for hours to put the fire out.

A big thank you to the fire fighters and everybody who helps.

It is uncertain how the fires started.
