Raglan Fine for New Years

Wednesday’s drizzle has cleared, Thursday is fine and sunny.  With a forecast of fine and sunny for Friday, Raglan is all set for New Years. There will be southwesterlies which will ease during Thursday, with a sunny and cloudy day on Friday.

Celebrations start with the annual Lions New Year’s Eve Parade at 7pm in Bow St. The parade is fairly short, so to make the event longer it usually goes two or three times around the median strip.

Raglan Taxis will be running a shuttle bus service to and from Whale Bay. It will leave Whale Bay for Raglan on the hour till 2am. Return trips to Whale Bay leave the Raglan Fire Station in Wainui Road from 8.30pm and then on the half hour till 2.30am. The fare is $7 per person per trip.

Many cafes, clubs and the pub have will have live entertainment. At the Raglan Club, Emmeline will be entertaining and impersonating from 8pm. Down Bow St at the Harbourview Hotel it will be AGENT 99. On the waterfront at the Orca Restaurant and Bar, Dr Teeth will be on deck from 9pm (CC $10.00). If it’s a party you want then local DJs B.rex and Jamin-i are all set for a YOTTY NEW YEAR at the YOT CLUB. (CC $15. Open till 2am. One-way door from 12 midnight.)

And to see the New Year in, the Raglan Community Board with sponsorship from WEL Networks is staging a Fireworks display at midnight. It will be in the area from the jetty end of Bow St to Kopua.
