Raglan’s sole Councillor has announced that he will be standing for Mayor of Waikato District in the local body elections later this year. The only other person to so far to announce that they will be standing for Mayor is Whangape ward (North West of Huntly) Councillor, Allan Sanson. The Whangape ward will disappear after the Waikato District expands to include part of the Franklin District. To date the current Waikato Mayor, Peter Harris is saying he is not standing for re-election.
While Councillor for Raglan over the last six years, Clint has seen a number of roading and services undergrounding projects come to fruition. These include the urban upgrades of Bankart street and Main Road. Early in his term the new Raglan Rugby club rooms and changing rooms were built. Clint’s decision to run for Mayor leaves the role of Councillor for Raglan open. He has also played a major role in the Waikato River settlement with Tainui. Clint Baddeley is also Deputy Chairman of Wintec.
