The next Board meeting is Tuesday 12 February at 3pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 2.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues, but you can also email the Community Board members who are:-

Rodger Gallagher rwg@cvm.co.nz

Bob Macleod 2louds@paradise.net.nz

Alan Vink alan.vink@slingshot.co.nz

Barry Ashby tricia.barry@raglanaccommodation.co.nz

Terry Horn terry_raglan@yahoo.com

Linda Cole lindacole@vodafone.co.nz

Clint Baddeley (councillor) jcbaddeley@xtra.co.nz

The agenda at http://waidc.govt.nz/CMSFiles/51/515554b5-6d3b-4eb7-b1c9-a4a26af6973a.pdf is unusually short. Items on the agenda include –

1. Bus Raglan West bus shelter (a standard city type) to be put up in May with a new parking bay. Correspondence about confusion over Christmas buses.

2. Stormwater – reviewing consultation material supplied by consultants and may use it in May. $329,486 in budget.

3. Water meters being put in by Allens March to May. At the December meeting WDC said metering was being shelved until at least 2014.

4. Coastal Reserves Committee – minutes 10 Dec and there’s a Supper Room meeting at 5.30pm tomorrow, Mon 11 Feb. Items for tomorrow include vehicle access on Ngarunui Beach for shellfish monitoring and Kopua Domain events – 2 March raft race, 23 March motorcycle ride, 13 April Waka Ama.

5. Wharf final invoices to come. No mention of the leases.

6. Discretionary funding $5,977 in fund. Fri 8 March is the deadline for the next funding round.

Let me know if you think WED should be taking up other issues not on the agenda, such as Whale Bay sewage to be tendered in February for a forecast cost of $2,932,172, the CBD plan which was presented to a public excluded meeting in September, Papanui Pt car park about to be purchased, or the $3,000 to be paid to the Chamber of Commerce to run Sunday and public holiday buses after Easter.

Please add your vote to those at http://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/business/8262380/Bus-run-uncertainty-bad-for-Raglan saying “a Sunday bus service from Raglan to Hamilton will help the town’s growth”. At present 268 votes (70.3%) say “Yes, I think it will make a big difference”, but “No, I think the funding should go elsewhere” has 113 votes (29.7%). Although about 5% of WDC’s ratepayers don’t have a car, WDC only spends about 1.3% of its Roading budget on buses.

Thanks

John.

  1. Discretionary Fund Report – says $5,977 available but there is an error and amount is really $8480.84. (Bike stand item is also wrong – should be the i-SITE bike stand that went in last year).
