from Secretary: John Lawson, 51 Cliff St, Raglan 07 825 7866 email johnrag@vodafone.co.nz
The agenda is at http://waidc.govt.nz/CMSFiles/
Items on the agenda include –
- Library/office extension to start in March, replacing leaky roof and extending front entrance. Library to move (“Council is in the final stages of leasing a building”) till July/August.
- Simon Rd footpath – on 25 March WDC will decide whether to fund.
- Cliff St one-way “envisaged as a low cost project involving a small amount of signage”, “has already been studied by Council. Another study is a waste of money”. [the study reported to RCB on 12/9/2006 then estimated the cost at about $1m]
- WDC/RCB links suggest a monthly newspaper report and 2-monthly ‘Future Focus’ public meetings.
- Maori logo wording – WDC has added Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato below its logo.
- Placemaking workshop run by David Engwicht Sat Feb 22 to evaluate and decide on a project and plan the process and implementation at Town Hall 9.30-4.30 (lunch not provided). Can include colour and layout of renovated library.
- Cultural trail could mark path from Bow St via Wi Neera St and Museum to Old School.
- Discretionary fund RCB has $13,779 to give away. The Environment Centre wants $2,145 for Maui Dolphin Day (Sun 2 March). WDC asks for RCB views on having a single WDC-wide policy and criteria on grants, limiting them to half the cost of the project and giving only to groups, not individuals.
- Coastal Reserves Committee minutes of last 2 2013 meetings and report from meeting at 5.30pm Monday 10 February in Town Hall Supper Room.
- May meeting proposed for Tue 6.
The infrastructure agenda refers to the 28 Feb court hearing into the sewage spill and work to comply with suspended solids limits in the resource consent. 66 have signed up for the Whaanga Coast sewage scheme and a draft agreement with iwi is “being developed for discussion” on the alignment of Wainui Rd, which in parts is not on WDC land. No mention is made of the footpath beside the road, held up because of the land ownership issue. The agenda also mentions the closure of Waingaro Hot Springs and requirement for electrical work and an earthquake check. The public are to be excluded from a discussion about the water treatment plant.
Let me know if you think WED should be taking up other issues not on the agenda. As well as the infrastructure items, the agenda makes no mention of several other issues raised by RCB in December and has no ‘Action Register’ about them. Nor does it mention the consultation on psychoactive substances – http://waidc.govt.nz/CMSFiles/a0/a01fd5a5-cfb6-4698-a31c-735453e8b945.pdf.
